IGSSS launched Su-poshan (Sustainable Provision and Occupation through Social Action for Improved Nutrition) program during a Key Stakeholder Consultation on “Building Alliances for Transforming Nutrition Landscape in India” on 13th March 2019 in Delhi. Representatives from NITI Aayog, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Food Corporation of India, UNICEF, Path India, Nutrition Alliance, German Embassy, GIZ, and other national and international organization participated in the event and discussed opportunities to leverage each other’s strength in challenging the high rates of hunger and malnutrition in India.
Dr. Vinod K. Paul, Member, NITI Aayog, Dr. Mr. Wolfgang Köster, Deputy Head of Economic Cooperation and Development of India, Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, Ms. Neha Khara, Nutrition Expert, GIZ formally launched the Su-poshan program. Dr. Paul in his in an augural address urged the participants to strengthen the implementation of the POSHAN Abhiyan by converging the resources and skills of various stakeholders.
Su-poshan aims to enhance food and nutrition security for 112,500 marginalized people in 44 districts of 13 states of India by adopting more secure food/nutrition measures in agriculture, by enhancing monetary incomes through a more diversified/innovative livelihoods portfolio and by practicing climate adaptive measures for more judicious management of natural resources. The 45 months program will be implemented in partnership with 45 NGOs and is funded by Misereor.
