United Way improves lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities around the world to advance the common good. The focus is on education, income and health—the building blocks for a good quality of life and a strong community. United Way has been active in India for over twenty years with operations spanning seven cities: Baroda, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai where national office is also located. These locally governed and operated United Ways play an important role in the Indian voluntary sector, bringing together individuals, companies, and other non-profit organizations to address pressing issues in their communities and set the standard for non-profit management.
